İmplants
What is an implant ?
It is an artificial tooth root, mostly in the form of a screw, placed in the jaw to replace missing teeth. Since the jawbone perceives titanium as a part of the body, the implants are mostly made of titanium and the success rate of the implants is very high due to the high tissue compatibility. The reason why it is widely used in dentistry; It can be applied in a wide range from single tooth deficiencies to patients with no teeth. This application is carried out without any intervention to the adjacent teeth. Both the feeling of chewing being close to normal and the possibility of treatment without interfering with other teeth; In the century we live in, implant methods have become one of the most applied treatment methods.
Will I feel pain during the implant procedure ?
The local anesthesia we use during tooth extraction is enough for a painless procedure. Conscious sedation or general anesthesia may be required according to some medical requirements and sometimes the patient's request. The medications we will give you are enough to make you feel comfortable after the operation.
Is there a risk of rejection of implants by the body ?
Researches on surface properties have shown that titanium is tissue friendly. For this reason, titanium has been used in implant manufacturing for a long time. There is no rejection of the implant by the body. However, factors such as infections developing during the recovery period and not paying attention to oral hygiene by the patients, excessive alcohol and use of cigarette, may prevent the implant from combining with the bone. As a result, the implant may be lost. With regular dental check-ups and good oral hygiene, you can extend the life of your implants.
Who can have implants ?
Individuals with good general health, healthy gums and bone in the jawbone that can support the implants, and good oral care have a high success rate in implant treatment. In some cases, the amount of bone is not enough for implant placement. If bone loss is too much, implants can be placed by providing the appropriate infrastructure for implant placement by applying advanced techniques.
